Actor Frankie Muniz, best known for his role in Malcolm in the Middle, has been getting attention lately for something unexpected: his faith. After a tweet about his belief in Jesus went viral earlier this month, Muniz is opening up about how he’s life has changed drastically thanks to God, a cross-country road trip and a Christian radio station.
“It’s something that’s new in my life,” Muniz said. “I found it on accident. I was driving across the country and everything that could possibly go wrong was going wrong. I was almost in tears, and the only station that would play was K-LOVE.”
He went on to explain how two songs — Kari Jobe’s “Cover the Earth” and Big Daddy Weave’s “Overwhelmed” — played back to back while he was somewhere in New Mexico.
“It was the perfect moment,” he said. “I haven’t turned off that radio station since. I started going to church every Sunday and really being involved in my faith. It’s definitely become a big part of my life because of that trip.”
Muniz, who described himself as “a high-stress person,” said Christian music — he shared he’s a big fan of Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham — has helped bring him peace and perspective.
“Even though I had a lot of good in my life, I felt like I was still in a very anxious place,” he said. “It just puts me in the right frame of mind that I want to be in.”
Muniz shared that he hopes others will be inspired to listen to worship music and seek God in their own lives.
“If that little bit of listening to the music could have that effect on me and bring me down a different path to make my life better,” he said, “I hope other people find that, too.”
