Jacksonville Jaguars two-way rookie Travis Hunter just had a pretty big Sunday. The star wide receiver and defensive back got baptized at Celebration Church in Jacksonville before his team played the Seattle Seahawks on October 12.
“It’s Sunday. It’s God’s day. I’ve been planning to go get baptized for a minute,” Hunter said after the game. “I changed my life over to become a better man.”
A fellow churchgoer (@cali2jax on Instagram) took a video of the baptism, which was performed by Celebration pastor Tim Timberlake, and it quickly went viral.
“It means a lot,” Hunter said of getting baptized. “I’m becoming a better man and leaving my old self and starting a new chapter.”
Hunter, 22, was coached by outspoken Christian Deion Sanders throughout his college career at Jackson State and Colorado. Sanders remains a big influence in Hunter’s life.
A first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Hunter has 20 receptions and 197 receiving yards this season.
