Ready to Follow Jesus?

Your complete guide to making the decision, committing your life, and starting your journey as a believer. Assess your readiness and take the next step.

The Most Important Decision

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" — Mark 8:36 (KJV)

You've picked up this guide because you're considering something huge: giving your life to Jesus Christ.

This is the most important decision you'll ever make. It deserves careful thought, honest questions, and real examination.

This is Normal

Feeling uncertain, having questions, or needing reassurance is completely normal. Take your time. God isn't rushing you—but don't wait forever either.

Four Dimensions of Readiness

Assess where you are in each area

Spiritual Readiness

Do you sense God calling you? Have you experienced conviction about sin?

You feel drawn to Jesus and want to know Him

You're convicted about your sin and need for forgiveness

You believe Jesus is who He says He is

You're willing to surrender control of your life

Intellectual Readiness

Have you examined the claims of Christianity honestly?

You understand the basic Gospel message

You've examined evidence for Christianity

Your questions don't prevent belief (doubt is OK!)

You're willing to take a step of faith

Emotional Readiness

Are you emotionally prepared for the commitment?

You're not looking for Christianity to fix all problems instantly

You understand following Jesus requires sacrifice

You're prepared for potential rejection from others

You're ready to trust God even when you don't understand

Volitional Readiness (Your Will)

Are you willing to follow Jesus no matter the cost?

You're ready to make Jesus Lord, not just Savior

You're willing to change your lifestyle

You're committed to obeying God's Word

You're prepared to count the cost and follow anyway

Not Ready in Every Area?

That's OK! No one is 100% ready. Faith is taking a step even when you're not completely certain.

Removing Common Barriers

Honest answers to what's holding you back

What About My Past?

Your past doesn't disqualify you. Jesus came to save sinners, not perfect people. '...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.' — 1 John 1:7

What If I Have Questions?

Questions are normal! Even John the Baptist doubted. God can handle your questions. Seek answers while you follow. Faith doesn't mean having all answers.

What If I'm Not Sure?

You don't need 100% certainty to take a step of faith. Jesus said, 'Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief' (Mark 9:24). Start with the faith you have.

What If People Mock Me?

Jesus warned His followers would face mockery. 'Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you...for my sake' (Matthew 5:11). Eternal life is worth temporary mockery.

What If My Family Objects?

This is hard, but Jesus said following Him may divide families (Matthew 10:34-37). Honor your family, but obey God first. Many families come around over time.

What If I Fail?

You will fail sometimes—all Christians do. But '...he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins' (1 John 1:9). God's grace is bigger than your failures.

What Happens When You're Saved?

These changes happen instantly when you trust Jesus

Your Sins Are Forgiven

Every sin—past, present, future—is forgiven when you trust Jesus.

"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. — Psalm 103:12"

You Receive Eternal Life

You now have everlasting life that begins now and continues forever.

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. — 1 John 5:11"

The Holy Spirit Enters You

God Himself comes to live inside you, empowering and guiding you.

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? — 1 Corinthians 3:16"

You Become a Child of God

You're adopted into God's family. He becomes your Father forever.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God. — John 1:12"

You're Born Again

You become a new person spiritually. God begins transforming you from the inside out.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away. — 2 Corinthians 5:17"

You're Sealed for Eternity

You're marked as God's possession forever. Nothing can snatch you from His hand.

"Ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. — Ephesians 1:13"

Ready to Commit?

Pray one of these prayers right now

The Simple Commitment Prayer

Dear Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God who died for my sins and rose again. I confess I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. Right now, I turn from my sins and ask You to come into my heart and life. I want to follow You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Your name, Amen.

The Honest Prayer

God, I'm not perfect, and I don't have everything figured out. But I believe You're real, and I need You. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again. I'm giving You my life—the good parts and the broken parts. Please forgive me, save me, and help me follow You. I trust You with my future. Amen.

Did You Just Pray?

If you prayed and gave your life to Jesus, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!

You are now a child of God. Angels in heaven are rejoicing right now (Luke 15:10)!
